Who was built this temple?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>1) The Enryaku-ji temple was built by Saichou, the founder of Thedaisyuu of Buddhism, as a temple to ground the Heian-kyou against the influence thought from the northeast.<br \/>\n\uff08\u5ef6\u66a6\u5bfa\u306f\u3001\u65e5\u672c\u306b\u5929\u53f0\u5b97\u3092\u4f1d\u3048\u305f\u6700\u6f84\u304c\u5317\u6771\u304b\u3089\u306e\u4fb5\u5165\u306b\u5bfe\u3057\u3066\u3001\u5e73\u5b89\u4eac\u306e\u9b3c\u9580<br \/>\n\u93ae\u8b77\u306e\u305f\u3081\u306e\u5bfa\u3068\u3057\u3066\u8a2d\u7acb\u3057\u305f\u3002\uff09<br \/>\n2) It was originally known as the Hiei-zan Temple, because of the name of where the temple is located. Hiei-zan is said to be one of three Rei-zan (Holy Mountains) in Japan,<br \/>\ntogether with Kouya-san and Osore-zan.<br \/>\n\uff08\u3053\u306e\u5bfa\u304c\u4f4d\u7f6e\u3059\u308b\u5c71\u306e\u540d\u79f0\u304b\u3089\u3001\u5143\u306f\u6bd4\u53e1\u5c71\u5bfa\u3068\u77e5\u3089\u308c\u3066\u3044\u305f\u3002\u6bd4\u53e1\u5c71\u306f\u9ad8\u91ce\u5c71\u3001\u6050\u5c71\u3068\u5171\u306b\u201c\u65e5\u672c\u4e09\u5927\u970a\u5c71\u201d\u3068\u547c\u3070\u308c\u3066\u3044\u305f\u3002\uff09<br \/>\n3) The Enryku-ji produced mumerous graet priests who founded imporatant Japanese Buddhist Sects, such as Hounen, Eisai, Shinran, Dougen, and Nichiren.<br \/>\n\uff08\u6cd5\u7136\u3001\u6804\u897f\u3001\u89aa\u9e1e\u3001\u9053\u5143\u3001\u65e5\u84ee\u3089\u65e5\u672c\u306e\u4ecf\u6559\u5404\u6d3e\u306e\u59cb\u7956\u3068\u306a\u3063\u305f\u9ad8\u50e7\u3092\u4e16\u306b\u9001\u3063\u305f\u4fee\u884c\u306e\u5bfa\u3067\u3042\u308b\u3002\uff09<br \/>\n4) By the latter half of 10th century, this temple had become a flourishing temple, with its temple buildings configured almost the same as today.
